Quick iTunes question

Iam slowly making the change any from WMP to iTunes, to listen to all off my music as ive got an iPhone.

When you have music in your library does it take up additional space on your HDD as you have the original file and then another off the same file in iTunes.

Do you guys have all your music collection in your iTunes library?

I let iTunes handle it and once stuff is imported into iTunes, I delete it from anywhere else it may be.

I have all my music in my itunes library, but reference only. I have it stored on a separate (external) HD

Pain in the jacksie when I find duplicates, because I have to go through the rigmarole of 'Show in finder' > Send to trash, then delete from itunes...each track.
