quick lapping question

ive almost finished the 1000 grit paper my question is the next ones i have are
40 micron
25 micron
20 micron
15 micron
10 micron

they are all muti-coloured unlike the red ones, but do i wet them? or use them dry?

because of the water the metal particles are too small to do anything but make strange patterns on the paper.. although i did get little bit of water on the cpu just used a small piece of bounty to soak it up.. working fine now,

took me 30+minutes to remove all the aluminum, the middle went first, followed by the edges. using 400grit. then went to 10micron, but im not happy with the shine, should have been more...

anyway,
idle temps now at 37, load temps at 59-60, previous temps were 41/68 respectively.

small note, i believe MX-2 is about 2-3 degrees worst then AS5. ,

was going to take some pics next time i will take a pic of the shine when i open up my case again (need to cut some holes for cable management)
