Quick Laptop CD question

A friend of mine has a Siemens Fujitsu or something laptop, anyhowits out of warranty and the cd drive is dead, eject will not work so have to use a pin.


Can I buy a new cd drive for the laptop and if so will any laptop drives (cd/DVD) fit in the slot, like desktop pc's ?
as I am not sure about this on laptops

It depends on the manufacturer. Dell, for instance, uses removable CD drives in all of its business laptops.

yes you can get replacement drives, they are pretty much universal with only the face plate being different.
