Quick macbook question

Im going to be buying a macbook on the weekend its only a couple of months old. I have never used a mac before well unless its in the apple shop. But is there anything i need to look for or is it a case of if it turns on its ok lol.

dont worry about case conditions, palm rests cracking is a known issue with the plastic MB's and apple repair them free of charge, cant really think of anything else being problematic.
