quick mario strikers question...

hi guys...

when playing through the tutorials i could do these special ability things such as mario growing huuuuuge and dk doing some sort of thunder clap thing...

i have never yet done this in a game, am i doing something wrong? whats the thinking behind getting the opportunity to pull one of these things off?

the c button just seems to fire shells and stuff :confused:
 
You need to get a item to make mario huge. Look in the items bar at the top of the screen, if there is a picture of mario then press the C button to use it and he should be massive.

I think you can make DK do that move by using any of the D-pad buttons when DK has the ball.
 
Those moves are individual character's specials. As has been said, you need to look out for a picture of the character in the items at the top. Also, the crowd will chant your charater's name when you have a character specific special.

Every player in the game also has a special charge shot, and a special 'feint' by pressing the + pad. DK beats his chest for example when you press the + pad. His thunder clap needs his item.
 
oh ok, ta, and is getting one of these special ability power ups just pot luck? havn't quite worked out yet what trigger you getting the power up icons...

You get them if one of your players is challenged when off the ball, or if you hit a charged shot (I think that's the case anyway).
