I bought the game yesterday in the steam sale. Loving it thus far! I am trying to complete the missing marines mission.

I went to edolus in the Sparta system. When I landed I found I was in a vehicle. I followed the distress signal and killed the thresher maw. I can see the marines are dead but I don't get an update in my journal, e.g it is suggesting I need to find the still. I have seen the transmitter but don't seem to be able to interact with it. I was wondering if this is because I need to exit the vehicle first - is this possible?

Yes you need to get out, completely forget which button it is though.

Edit its Q, or the holster weap button if you changed it.

I had exactly the same problem when i was in a vehicle for the 1st time, doesnt even say in the controls if i remember.

It's the Q key, I just mashed the keyboard until I exited the Mako. Upon actually reading the PDF manual I found it was in there.

But you know, being a bloke an all that, the last thing that occoured to me was to read the manual and find out. :p

I always just go into the controls in a game to see what does what. Seemed like the logical thing to do for me. Im presuming you can change the controlls in ME ?

I've a follow up silly question
Can you force sidekicks to use certain classes of weapons? and better than that, is there an easy way to tell what style of weaponry someone is best suited to use?

Should be able to select the weapon they use from the 'space' (pause) menu.

The best weapon they should use will be based on
a) the situation (e.g. shotguns vs long distance targets :p)
b) their skill/class (so whatever they have lots of skill points in)

On the xbox you hold down one of the bumper buttons and it comes up with the weapon they are holding and you can select which one they are using and which abilities they will use.

Yes on this, several of my sidekicks have medic effects and skills but that doesn't seem to be an assignable skill.
What am I doing wrong? Or will they simply never heal you, and you waste points allowing them to spend in that field?

My turn for a silly question.

Can you assign team mates to open locked crates?
I'm a soldier and finding a lot of the time I don't get enough time to hack the crates.
