Got my heart set on one of these now. If I buy MAC versions of games (Unreal Tournament 2004 for example) can I still play against those with WINDOWS versions via network/internet?

Also are the top of the range Macbook Pros (the 2.8GHZ 15 and 17 inch models) capable of providing a decent gaming experience or is that not the MB's forte?

Many thanks,

The current MBPs have decent enough graphics, though nothing amazing. The 15" has far less screen pixels to fill at its native resolution, so would probably be smoother.

As for the Mac versions of games, it'll differ with each one. I'd guess at the main sources of incpompatibilies being Mac versions lagging behind in terms of getting the latest patches.

Most games allow for cross over play between both versions (i think!) as that bit isnt really os dependent. (again this is an i think, i cant really conferm it as i havnt taken osx games online)

Iv got the "mid spec" 15 inch mbp (aka the cheapist one with a 9600 in it) which can more than handle most games. Once you get the settings in the sweet spot (where the thing doesnt heat up too much but still looks pretty) it can play almost anything, my examples are left 4 dead, civ 4, half life 2 all in vista, and football manager 09 (not that taxing) and Age of Empires 3 in osx which all look pretty awesome :)

The top 15 inch and 17 inch pro have more ram for the 9600 i think too which should help the 17 inch a little more too.

Anyway conclusion is they are more than good enough to play games on :) (thankfully as i gave up the desktop pc for one)

having a similar problem here, really want a new laptop however I will expect decent performance in games. All I've been told is don't get one if u want to game at all! (after a pro btw)

So If I get Bootcamp and load it up with Windows 7 is the hardware compatability any good or am I best to buy the Mac versions of the same games?

Only ever play my best mate at Generals/UT when we're bored. Don't do anything gaming other than that.

Cheers
