Hi all

Thought I would take on some sleeving as you can't get some of the cables in the colours I want. Ordered some white sleeving and in the help email you received it says:

MDPC Email said:
WHITE or YELLOW SLEEVING (VERY IMPORTANT!!! Use white insulation tape or white cables!):
You should use white (or yellow) insulation tape (electrical tape) lengthwise on the cable or directly use white cables to enhance the pure white-look, because (even with 100% density weave) the cable color influences the appearance of the white sleeve

Anyone that has used the white, how much effect does having coloured wires have? e.g. Such a small colour variation to the sleeving that you will never notice in a pc case or is it obvious? If it obvious then I guess I will have to go and get some pins, wire and crimping tools.

Thanks.

Not used it myself but I assume this is the effect that they're referring to:

That is what I am thinking it will look like which is **** but then MDPC is known to be very dense weave so I am hoping not. Here is a nice big-ish pic of the white braid http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/pp77/PetrucciM3/Comptuer Build 09-10/ecomputer_208.jpg I don't know what colour wire is under them though but it looks denser than the pic you posted.

Edit: This seems to be white braid over black cable http://img857.imageshack.us/img857/677/img3866.jpg

If no one knows or has a picture, guess will have to find out when it gets here :( Was hoping to have everything ready for when the braid gets here.

You don't need masking tape. MDPC is dense enough that as long as you pull it tight, there's no way you'll see through it from more than 10-20cm away. For close macro photography, yeh you might want to put masking tape on it.

Pics in sig link of white MDPC braid - look at the white cables in my old build.

Ah thanks for the reply, settles my mind at least :) I think any braid fails to some degree under macro and flash photography, personally I just want to it look nice at the end of my desk.
