If a memory kit is rated above that which a motherboard can support (eg ddr2 mem at 1150mhz but motherboard only supports up to 1066) will the memory still work but be capped to 1066? Or will it just refuse to work?

Thanks

Can any one please add/verify/confirm this - need to be 100% sure in my mind - not that i dont trust kikari just i have had conflicting answers from other people

thanks

higher rated memory, should work, but will run at a slower speed, that the mobo is rated too.

Now as with anything this is not always guaranteed, as some mobo's can just be a pain in the u know what, but in theory it should work
