Quick Memory Ratio Question

I seem to recall reading somewhere that having your memory higher than your FSB is pointless. For example, 400mhz FSB and 400mhz RAM (1:1) is better than 400mhz bus and 500mhz memory.

Is there any truth to this, or is it a pack of lies?

And if there is truth, why?

Ah, makes sense. So ideally it should be 1:1?
