quick mondeo V6 value question

Need a quick estimate of price on this :

Ford mondeo 2.5v6 Ghia X Automatic saloon
1998 S registered
10mths Mot, 2mths tax
Service history, 94,000 miles.
Full leather interior, electric seats, aircon, cruise control, alloys, ABS, ESP etc so plenty of toys.
in metallic green

The owner is looking for £950 for it but might go a bit lower.

Is that a bit expensive? Insurance is £240 as I am 39 with max NCB.

Do these Mazda V6 engines last the course are they money pits in the making?

It's an automatic - run away rather quickly... the auto boxes are awful and it's likely to break very soon if it hasn't already.

Are Ford auto boxes not very good? Last Auto I was a Rover 820sl and that was a nice smooth changing box.
Just doing a bit of research now ..

The v6 in the mondeo isn't a mazda engine it was originally designed by porsche which was sold to ford and they finished off the design with the help of cosworth. The autoboxes aren't great they do tend to expire way to quickly costing lots of money.

The engine: Fundamentally decent but with a few weak spots which, with a car of this value, write it off if they occour. It is not a Mazda engine.

The gearbox: Made of cheese. More a case of when, rather than if, it fails.

The price: Sounds good to me.
