Hey all,

Sorry if this is a really stupid question, but I have to ask...

Are you able to use the resolution 1280x1024 on a 24" - and if so, does anyone have pictures of what it looks like?

The only reason I ask is on my current 19" when using 800x600 it looks massive :p

Thanks,
Marky

I assume this 24" monitor is wide-screen if so use 1440x900 Resolution it is a 16:10 ratio same as the 24".

other thing to consider is that if you have a screen / graphics card with aspect ratio control, you could use that res with 1:1 pixel mapping and have the image appear with black borders around all the edges. Kinda like having a smaller screen within the larger screen :)

Really depends on the monitor and what aspect ratio controls it has. If it has none you'll get a stretched image to fill the screen and everything will be too wide which looks nasty. If it has a 1:1 mode then you'll get a sharp picture in the proper ratio, but small borders top and bottom, and wide borders either side. It may also have an aspect stretch mode which will scale the picture up as far as possible but keep the aspect ratio correct, but will probably look worse than 1:1 though due to the upscaling.

Also your video card may well be able to do it's own aspect ratio controls (especially if it's nvidia) if the monitor has none.
