Quick MOT question!

If you still have time remaining on your old MOT certificate - they can add this onto your new certificate.

So if your MOT runs out on the 15th February - your new one will expire on 15th February 2008. If you don't have your new certificate, it will expire on 29th January.

Isn't this only true for a certain number of days though? Otherwise surely you could get an MOT on the 28th and the 29th January 07, and it wouldn't expire until January '09...

What is the lee-way time then?

You can go up to a month in advance of your existing MOT certificate expiring.

This used to be so that you have up to a month to fix any failures from the test whilst still having a valid MOT certificate. Whether driving around on an existing ticket after a failure is now allowed with the computerised system, I do not know (as previously, you could have "lost" the failure notice, whereas now all failures and advisories are logged on the computer system)
