Hello,

Any reason why a car's MOT shows up on the gov.uk status page, but not the gov.uk history page?

Also shows on paid car checks as MOT'd as per the gov.uk status page.

Thoughts?!

Kind Regards

A new MOT generally shows up on the history page before the garage has even called me to say it's ready in my experience.
IIRC, they do state that MoT test and tax may take several business days before it appears online, which is why it's recommended that you retain the printed pass certificate.

I think 5 business days was the suggested likely delay, so maybe see if it's up by close of play on Monday?
Either way, it's on the status page and you have the printed pass cert, so you can prove it if needs be.
I do, but I was just curious as I’ve never seen it before.

Thought someone might have an idea as to why

I bought a 2004 reg car last year with 145K miles on the clock but it's MOT history on the gov site only went back as far as 2015 where in 2015 it had done 105K miles. Where had the car been between 2015 and 2007 when it's first MOT would have been due? It came with a service book which only had one stamp in from 2005 and the MOT certificates going back to 2015 when it first appears on the gov MOT site. No other service history or older MOT certs. I even emailed someone via the gov site but they replied and stated there was no other MOT records for the car. All very weird.

As far as I know It's a UK spec car and was originally registered at Ford dealers only 10 miles away from me in 2004 and the gov status check site says first registered with DVLA in 2004.

I later sold the car to a mate and he's still driving it today.
