Quick mount and blade question for those who play it!

Is it best to buy the first mount and blade and the expansion, or the downloadable set on Steam?

or can i just buy the expansion without the first game?

Where can the best offers be?

Mount & Blade: Warband is the one you want. I believe thats mostly an upgrade rather than an expansion and its stand alone. I think it requires Steam no matter where you buy it (you might want to check that), and you can get it delivered for like £12 so no point getting it through Steam unless its on discount

Just get Warband. Definitely a more refined experience.

And enhance the game with a few mods.

Or Fire and Sword is apparently going to be released this spring... google around and see what you think.

Yeah... still a bit iffy about it but the customisable units is quite tempting...

cheers for all the advice! ill have a look around at some of the best prices. i have steam anyway so if i do need it its no problem. i just want to save some cash where i can

Only get Warband. A few of the major mods from the first game have now been ported over and there are now new ones up and running that are equivalent or better to some of the original's unique ones. Its not worth buying the original just so you can play the Star wars mod etc (which wasnt that good) .
