Quick MS licencing question

If I buy a Win2K12 data centre licence, as long as the host has only got 2 physical processors, I don't need to buy any further licences for the host, but I can run 1024 virtual machines without buying another licence?

Yes it is unlimited virtual hosts in data centre, you may need CALS though if you are remotely accessing the server or the hosts below it if they are running Windows.

Good luck trying to run 1024 vhosts though. That will be a lot of overhead. Lots of RAM and processing power will be required.

We currently have more than enough CALs, though they are 2008 cals.

Yep 1 DC license for 2 physical CPUs, unlimited VMs, 2012 Windows CALS and RDS CALs.
