I've got one of these:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=NW-052-LS

If i disable the wireless on that, will it work with this:

Do you get two in the pack or would i need to order two of the above?

Also, being quite new to this, do they work simply by plugging in on in a socket near the router (above) and the other in another sock next to the computer in the room next door?

Thanks

Edit, just seen this:

The fact there are two in a starter pack answers one of my questions.

I think these are great devices, from what ive heard about them.

The only thing i suppose you would have to watch out for , is if you live in a modern property the ring mains will be split upstairs and downstairs.

Both rooms are upstairs.

The starter pack is the one to get yes?

HI,

Got 3 85mb Versions of this working in the house works a treat just need a good wall socket for it to plug stright into dont matter if your upstairs or downsatirs heres my set up down stairs one router powerplug and comp with power plug in near by room and 2 power plugs upsatirs running 2 comps and if you want more then one comp running of one power plug just put it into a hub and connect the comps from there got my pc and my PS2 running of it one power plug 2 devices, works a treat went for the 85mb version as it was a lot cheaper and dont intend to stream any files over it and found it complety reliable a lot better then my old wireless setup

but to answer your question that starter pack is all you need just remmember for your first pc you need 2 plugs then one plug for every other device you plug into it

The thing i did read about though there not backward compatible eg if you have a 200mb version on it you cant plug an 85mb one on the network they all need to be the same speed.

Yeah the router needs one and the PC needs one so the starter pack is your best bet.

I've got mine plugged into a WRT54GL as the laptop needs wireless but my PC desires something a bit more stable, and they work very well.

Just remember to enable encrytion though, its much easier to setup than wireless.

Welcome to the homeplug club bud ;)

Thanks for the information you two, appreciate it. Will order a set this week.

If it's just to give another PC internet access (nothing like HD streaming) would two of these suffice?..
