First time changing ISP so don't know which is the right way to do it.
My contract with BT ends 19th June. I'm going to sign up with Be.

Do I:

- Wait till 19th June and then sign up to BE
or
- Request MAC code and sign up to BE 2 weeks before the 19th.

Thanks

Request a MAC code a month before you minimum contract ends and then use it 2 weeks before your contract ends, this way you will have to pay a minimal over lapping charge (of 5/6 days)

Ideally it should be;
20th May - Mac code + give 30 days notice (by getting the code)
9th June - Sign up to BE
16th June - You will be transfered by now and so only give away (as such) 3 or 4 days chargeable Internet to BT.

BT probably won't give you the code till your contract term is up, and referrals aren't allowed on these forums.

So i'm looking at around 1-2 weeks without internet after the 19th?
Also, do I still need to get the code from BT.

24hours? Bit confused...

- Get MAC code from BT on 19th
- Sign up to Be on 19th

According to this site, changing ISP can take a week. So am I still connected to BT even after the 19th?

Yes you dont disconnect from BT until Be connect to you, so until you have Be's service you use BT's.

Yes it may seem a bit scary at first, but it is a very smooth process. I went from BT to ADSL24 and experienced no downtime at all cause i was asleep when it happened!

All i needed to do was put in my new settings in my router and it was done.
