Just downloaded ABITSATA_V133.EXE, but extracting it shows me quite a few different driver files to choose from.
I assume that for my NF7-S 2.0 I need the drivers in the \silicon\3112 folder?

I must say all i have had is problems when trying to put in the 3112 drivers on mine :( every time i reformat its a real drama to get the sata working.
Even when using the disc that came with the hd drama drama drama.
good luck

What kind of problems have you had? I was just planning to slipstream them into Windows using NLite but you've made me hesitate now...

I had an issue once where i was getting regular disk errors. Turned out i had upgraded the sata firmware but not the driver. Once i did that everything was fine.

You mean the SATA firmware on the NF7? Should I upgrade it too? I didn't even know it was possible to upgrade those separately from the BIOS
Seems to be a lot I don't know about this.... I googled around for it but all the guides I found seem to apply to NForce 4 mobos, and the only guide I found about slipstreaming SATA drivers for the NF7 seems to be pre-NLite because it explains how to slipstream and burn a bootable CD manually.
Is there anything I should be aware of about this process? Any good guides about?

What bios are you running ? Is it one of the modded ones like Tic Tacs D26 Mantaray bios. I think some of the modded bioses upgrade the sata firmware. Not sure if the official bioses do, but probably do. Check the read me for them.

Will do! I am indeed running D26 Mantaray. Not too bothered about updating the firmware if the BIOS doesn't update them though, unless there's specific problems with the original firmware. I'm of the if it ain't broke don't fix it school of thought.:p

Update: my mistake, I'm actually running the D26 BLACK Mantaray, which includes - SATA Bios Version 4247. Not that I think there's that much in it.

Guides I've found on Google regarding slipstreaming the NVidia SATA drivers:

The guide linked to directly from the NLite FAQ, which is also the one that got me scared about doing this. However, although the link on the NLite site says "guide to installing NVidia SATA drivers" or words to that effect, the linked-to page itself doesn't really talk about SATA drivers at all, but specifically about RAID drivers! I don't know why the NLite FAQ links to it, and it doesn't apply to me at all since I'm only installing a single SATA drive.

MSFN's guide - doesn't use NLite, though it also doesn't mention any particular problems with these drivers or a necessity to deviate from the standard slipstreaming method to get them to work, which makes me assume that doing it automatically via NLite would also work.

This thread here, which is also pre-NLite, and in fact people on there are saying that SP2 integrates single-drive SATA support so I don't know what all the fuss is about anyway!

The problem I recall with the silicon image drivers was the silicon image website.
Some of the stuff in your above posts was copied from here.
Luma was doing it in 2003.

You'll prolly find the links to silicon image drivers dead, but they can be found over here. Yes I know thats all ASUS, but the abit used the same controller.
SiL Sata driver v1.00.281 and Silicon Image 1.00.32 RAID drivers and SiL Sata driver v1.00.29

The .29 was the most popular IIRC, but these are text versions on the driver.

The confusion arises when you look at the ASUS web site for the same board, and see files that are 4.37 (MBytes)

More archived info on it here that was taken from here when the Nforce2 board first came out.

They are just the 1.0.0.50 version of the same driver.
Extract then and look in 'abitsata_v1.33\silicon\3112'

SilSupp.cpl is something I have not seen before, but it was made in 2003.

The best drivers for sata always came from silicon image (and some didn't)

This was tested ages ago, and I doubt they have improved then a great deal unless they work with hard drives that didn't exist in 2003.
