Hey guys,

Just started playing on my 360 a lot more, since i got an HD TV :D

Just started playing Oblivion and i was wondering if someone could explain the difference on magical items, between Charges and Uses

The manual doesn't say anything of use, so could someone clarify for me please?

Thanks! :)

EDIT... Yes im stupid, i just realised i posted in the PC Games section, but i guess, the question still applies. :o

No one? I hope i've not asked a dumb question or something, but uses and charges seem one and the same to me, so why have the magic items got both?

You can re-charge your items :p

I haven't played Oblivion much yet and haven't gone in to magic much at all so that's all I know.

Hope it helps!

I think they only have a certain amount of uses, but an unlimited amount of charges (but you have to go get them recharged).

I'm not really sure, just throwing ideas about :D

An enchanted item holds a number of charge points (the "charge") - say 2000 points. Each use of the item (say, spell works on strike, then each time you hit someone/thing) uses a set number of charge points - say, 200. That means you could use it ten times before it ran out of charge. Generally, the stronger the spell, the more charge points are used each use, and the quicker it runs out of charge.

Ah ok, that makes sense, but it still seems a bit of a strange way of implementing it, they could have just used one or the other

Thanks for clarifying that mate! :)

The reasoning i think was to give the gemstones that power the enchants a value (eg 3600 for grand soul gem) then have different enchants take less/more of this power so restricting the use. Makes for creative use of enchants for max effect at low power usage :)
