Hi guys,
my brother give me an old pc that i am gonna setup as a small file server. I have used up all the ide slots for Hard Drives and i have put a dvd drive on the secondary raid connector, but when i go into windows it does not see it.

What am i doing wrong here, the motherboard is an abit KT7-Raid

cheers guys

Hmm, I'd probably think that it's do to with the IDE lanes being set to RAID mode that might be causing an issue for it to be picked up properly in Windows. Does it show in the BIOS as being connected?

put it on a standard ide connector rather than raid, hard drives work fine in non raid on the raid controller all experience ive had with cdroms etc on raid controllers is that they dont work as youve found.

ie swap one of the hard drives to the raid controller and the dvd drive on to the ide

i put the dvd drive into ide 2 and the main hdd on IDE1 with a slave drive and it wont boot now it comes up and says GRUB after it says Verifying DMI Pool Data
