hi everybody!:p lol ermm.. now then, quick question. I found the beginners guide to overclocking and thought id give it a go, now i went to the bios and had a look about, started adjusting the clock speed it was at 266mhz by default, and it said the maximum was 350mhz but i adjusted it by 5 to 271mhz and it worked! only went up a tiny bit though, so i tried 276mhz and it workied. so i rebooted and tried 281mhz and it wouldnt boot up!! is that because i need to up the voltage? thanks. oh ive got a Asus P5VD2-X mb, and Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 and some crappy Kingston 2GB 2x1gb DDR2 667MHz mems in there too!;) and after having a search, i feel i should also put that the pc is standard standard fans and stuff, and the case is a Aspire X-Cruiser Black ATX Windowed Gaming Case. its got it own fans tho! lol..

RAM is also based on FSB youve increased your RAM speed beyond what it can handle at whatever timings you have on. Find your ram:fsb ratio and change it to keep your ram at its stock speed.

hi everybody!:p

Hey kingmodest,

excuse my fellow posters, of course what they meant to say was "Welcome to OcUk Forums!" :)

Make sure you read the FAQ and please keep your arms inside the vehicle when its moving!

Now it seems your being taken care of but I reckon you need to do a little more reading up before you get your head around the subject, learning to overclock would be about the same difficulty level as learning how to play Chess, lots of difference pieces that relate to each other etc, it's not rocket science but when you first start it can definitely be quite baffling!! especially when everyone is talking in gEEk-spEAk haha! :D

Haha, take no notice of me but that is my personal pet peave, I can't stand to read people slating their hardware, it's almost like you are Self-handicapping yourself and having a good grumble about it mumble mumble, don't do that but instead either learn how to work with what you have and get the best out of the worst or if it is really a problem then deal with it, don't blame the hardware, blame yourself, you choose it and you installed it! :o

right i had a little look and it looks like if im going to do this im going to have to upgrade some parts! i only changed it by 10 mhz and under 100% load on core 0 and 1 thee running at 42 degrees C! oh, ad the pc is now running at 2482MHz in stead of 2400MHz lol big jump eh? :P

your not giving us much info to tell you what could be wrong...

try to post

FSB
MULTI
Core Voltage
DRAM Voltage
DRAM:FSB Ratio
Ram Timings
