So two of my toilets started running into the bowl in the last few weeks and thankfully they are fairly modern so it's a simple matter of twisting the siphon out to replace the flush valve seal which I have done, upon restoring water flow the cistern filled and then started running through the overflow so it turns out I didn't check properly and it's actually the inlet fill valve at fault. Oh well, it got a new flush valve now anyway and the old ones were fairly worn.
Now it's a pita concealed cistern and the connection to the inlet is shown in the image below, is that just a case of tightening it up until it is water tight or do I need to replace it or any parts of it? I'm 90% sure nothing like an olive fell out of it when I undid it but cannot be 100% and having tightened it up a fair bit it was leaking quite badly, what am I doing wrong? (other than attempting to diy it and save paying a plumber) There was no ptfe tape on the threads or any sealant that I can see.
