Quick port forward question

Can you have multiple external ports pointing to the same internal port on multiple internal IPs

Ie.

33333 going to 3389 on IP 192.168.1.2
33334 going to 3389 on IP 192.168.1.3
 
I always assumed you could, but have never needed to. Just wanted confirmation, not in a situation that I can test atm
 
well i've just tested this on my o2 router it works fine. i tested 2 different machines running web servers on port 80 but i had different external ports pointing to each one.

Yes. I think that DGTeam had already implemented PAT? (Port Address Translation) in earlier firmwares but perhaps only via console configuration. The 1007 changelog specifically mentions the addition of a PAT section which I presume means this is the first time it features in the web-based GUI.

If you've loaded the firmware onto your DG834GT you can't miss the PAT Rules section, it is accessible directly from the links in the left-hand pane. The following is taken directly from the help info in the corresponding right-hand pane: "PAT, (Port Address Translation), is a feature of a network device that translates TCP or UDP communications made between hosts on a private network and hosts on a public network. PAT allows to use the same listening ports on every LAN pc client with different external open ports on firewall in-rules. It's possible to create a maximum of 65535 different firewall in rules."

cool thanks for that, will have to get the new firmware loaded on at some point then, still got the previous version on it at the mo
