Do you mean M Performance exhaust?
Is it the auto or manual?
It sounds like it has the most desirable options (pro nav and HK), but auto wipers, rear sensors, is all standard kit AFAIK.
FYI, when I traded in my 3 year-old M135i (facelift), albeit with 70k miles on but more options than the above car I got £12.5k for it. I guess private sale I might have got £14k.
I'd suggest the above car around £18-20k would be a fair price. They're not exactly rare, and discounts when brand new were massive.
I'd put into WBAC and then pretty much ignore what they say
H
Seeing as you're in Notts Sytner have these 2 in (both very similar miles):-
Used 2017 White BMW M140i for sale | PistonHeads UK for £20k manual
Used 2017 Black BMW M140i for sale | PistonHeads UK for £22k auto
Jesus, offer your (probably be former after this) mate and see what he says
Nothing like, only a main dealer could hope for that. Trade book is about 17k.
Private sale 18k or so.

@Rotty, the biggest issue that crops up with the b58 engine is the oil filter housing, this is exacerbated if the oil changes are infrequent (long life).
They take very well to a remap
You say that now, but we all know you’ll succumb to 420-440bhp for £400~
Most sobering revelation posted in Motors for a while.....
.
It does seem like an odd choice of car for work, though?
Sounds like a cracking deal where you both came off good (assuming they would have WBAC or done a low-book trade in).
Let us know how you get on. I was desperate to take an M140 black/shadow edition or w/e they were called. At one point they were £369 down with £369 a month which was nuts and deserved a punt.
Lovely car, £17k is a great price
Good post here on them https://www.babybmw.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=74&t=89536&sid=6aea10e727ec7bdd0dfbc1de95515052
