I've just applied for a provisional licence online, and I need to send off a form of ID with a photograph. I was going to send off my passport as the form of ID, but it has expired. Would it be safe to assume I can't send it as a form of ID if it's expired?

It's either that, or I'll have to find my birth certificate and national insurance card and get the form signed by someone who isn't a relative. Would rather just send off the passport really.

Cheers

Call 0300 790 6801 and ask.

But I don't see why not, they like passports as they fetch your photo off the UKPA.

I look really young in it lol, I opted to send off a new photo. It worked fine for applying (i.e, typing in passport number) but I need a proof of ID to complete the application.

they wont use your expired passport as ID as i did the same thing about 6months ago had to get my birth cert + nat id

There is no reason why they will accept an expired passport as valid ID.
As it's expired it probably won't be accepted.

I don't understand this. Why is it no longer valid to use as ID if it's expired - especially if your photo hasn't changed much. You're still you and have the same details.

Aye, that's why I made this thread. But apparently they wouldn't accept D18241's expired passport so I'm going to have to find my birth certificate and national insurance card.

I signed up for it at the post office, just go down to the post office an they just check the id and sign a form thats all, you dont need to send anything apart from photo, which the post office can send for you.

I've already done it online now, it's not really any hassle.

Oh I agree.
However an expired item cannot be classed as "Current, Valid ID".
Don't ask me why - However nowhere "should" accept an expired document as proof of ID.
