Quick PS3 display question

Hi

I have got my PS3 plugged into my 19" LG M1994D widescreen via HDMI and it says the max resolution/display it can have is 1080P which is downscaling I assume. But when I play LBP there seems to be a lot of jagged lines which are rather noticeable on this TV but they weren't on the main TV in the living room when I had it plugged into that yesterday (that TV is a Panasonic Viera 37", 1080P via HDMI).

Which is the best resolution to set the PS3 at on my LG TV to get less noticeable jagged lines/lack of anti-aliasing?

Im pretty sure if you set the ps3 to use 720p it will look better as the tv downgrades a 1080p image if the tv is not full hd this makes the image this makes it looks worse.

This is what i do excuse me if im wrong but mine looks a lot better when using 720p on the ps3 as my tv is not full hd 1080p.

Yea sounds like your screen is scaling 1080p probably into the native resolution which is 1440x900, so it will look pretty dodgy. Id set the PS3 to 720p then it will upscale. It may do it automatically but you may also have to change some settings on the screen to set the correct aspect ratio. As my Dell 2407 use to automatically scale 16:9 stuff to 16:10 so it looked stretched.

Slight off-topic, but Nanoman, what settings do you have for your PS3 and 2407WFP?

Ive got the same setup but not done much with it so wondering what looks best...

Hi mate,

On the screen itself all I changed was Wide Mode to Aspect in Display Settings. I had my PS3 at 1080p with cross-colour filter reduction on and rgb range on full, super-white off. I never got round to playing with it much though tbh as I was only using it briefly until I got my TV so everything else was at default. Missing the 1080p now though.
