quick ps3 questions

hi

ive just got myself a ps3 40gig version console , but i would like to know if i need a hdmi cable? ive got one but does it work with any cable as i dont get this 1.2 version 1.3 version hdmi cable stuff?

also is there anything else i need to get it up and running such as chargers, memeory cards ?

You'll be fine with 1.2.
Everything works out the box, just set it all up, turn it on, sort your wireless/wired Internet out and update it and away you go.

Setting the PS3 up is an absolute joy.

what about memory do most people use the hardrive or is it a good idea to get a memory card?

You have to use the HDD I believe, as they all come with them it makes zero difference. You can back saves onto an SD card on the old 60gb models, dunno about a USB stick, I'd guess that's the same.

Yep.

Have done here.

Saves direct to HDD, but you can copy the saves to a USB key if needs be.

Don't really need anything, except the HDMI cable that you already said you've got.

As for chargers, it's done via USB cable.
You can charge while playing the PS3, or plug the USB cable into a PC (Or Mac I guess) when the PS3 is off, to charge the controller.

The only extra I'd think about getting is the DS3 controller.
Plenty of threads about that already though.
