Ok I just got PSP and it hasn't come with a charger now would a 5 v - 2.5A output charger be ok??

I know it uses a 5v charger but would extra .5A in my other charger damage the PSP or battery??

i thought all psps came with a charger?

sorry im not sure if that would be ok or not it might damage it :(

if it is a slim you might be able to charge it via usb.

nah it a fat one , bought it second hand , guy forgotten to put charger in.

anyone else be really good to know. been looking all over web

i wouldnt risk it

just go to game, they should sell third party ones. i got one for mine cos mine was american. also cex sells them.

I know , but he's sending it for saturday , but I want ahem alter the firmware for homebrew and won't be able to do that until I get a charger :(

ill type whats on my official phat charger :

input:AC100-240V~0.24-014A /50/60HZ
output:5V(some symbol)2000mA

hope that helps.

edit: if you have problems with the 2 newest cfw's theres a patch out that might help. sony changed the driver for the memory stick and theres been a lot of reports of slow loading or games stuttering on cutscenes with certain memory sticks.

main reason im still on 3.71m33-4.

2.5 amp charger should be fine. Ampage is different to voltage in that too high a voltage would trash the device, but when it comes to amps, it only draws as much as it needs.

I use higher ampage AC adapters for a few of my devices - as long as voltage is ok and ampage is at least what it should be, it's fine.

Awesome so just to confirm my charger is +5V and 2.5A so that should be fine for charging a fat psp

thanks so much phemo

Wilko do a fairly decent multi adapter charger for about a fiver and it really will adapt to just about anything.

Getting it at work tomorrow and going to go from 3.10 Ce to 3.80 M33 -5.

Clearly this thread now has to tread carefully .........:)
yes agreed and from that firmware i believe a pit stop at 3.52m33 is required before going further.

:)
