Hi All,

so if a psu +12V rail of reporting around 11.1 to 11.89 or near there, i take it this is under perfomring and could cause stability issues ?

??

Cheers

What are you using to measure it?

If its software based then the reading can vary from board to board with the same psu. Only way to be sure is using a multy meter.

edit...if its dropping from 11.89v idle to 11.1 under load then thats not goo i would say :(
mine drops about 0.15v underload acc to speedfan

just the stats in the bios, i have ordered a new psu, a corseair 650, i think this is causing me the video card issues when i load games!

jeantech storm 700, ga-x48-dq6, his 4850 turbo and q6600, all at stock!

pc runs ok, prime95 etc, its only when i load games that it artifacts! and quits to desktop, somtimes reboots, i also put my old 1950pro card in and that crashed too!

11.1V is possible from a bad PSU. It's not the worst that's been seen. The spec is, I believe, 5% variance which is 11.4..

ah right, ok...

well the issue continues...i have installed corsair 650 i got today. pc booted ok, though good, loaded UT3 and games loads with no corruption, so far so good, started to play the game and the screen artifacts again and reboots.

so i figure its because i have had issue with old psu, so removed the drivers, rebooted, reinstalled the drivers, rebooted and tried UT3 again, perfect :) , no i reboot once more and i get crouption again...so back to square one.

I really do not under stand how it can be fine after the first reboot on reinstalling the drivers....all works , games folding@home gpu client etc, its only when i reboot a second time no graphical 3d stuff works...

My corsair used to slowly drop from 12V to around 10.9V... at which the PC gave up and turned off .... has been RMA'd now and the new one is fine

just reinstalling windows now, just to see if it had an issue when the old psu was in there!! u never know but i doubt it now!!! not sure what to do, send the lot back and start again ?got till friday with the 7 day return thing

reinstalling did nothing, made it even worse, just trying old video card now, 1950pro if that gets croupt, i suspect its the motherboard. if so will try new video card in old motherboard. see what happens!

i feel totally defalted now! :(

Do you have a fan on the northbridge? is there plenty of airflow near it?

Have you set you memory correctly? e.g. speed and voltage?

i set everything according to the specs etc, at the moment, ram is set using the spd values, i keep going over it and over it to see if i have made a mistake, its the most oddest problem i have seen!

there is no fan on the north bridge, the case has 3 big fans pulling air through the case.

the mb is ga-x48-dq6

so, decto, you were correct, it has somthing to do with my ram. new video card works no problem with old 2gb ram!

the mb is a ga-x48-dq6!

old ram 2gb corsair xms2
new ram ocz reaper pc2 6400 4gb.

so been using good old google and it looks like auto settings do not work for 4gb or more ram,

So i am woundering if anyone else has this motherbord and 4gb of ram, what settings are you using....would be brill if someone could post them ? ;)

getting close not to solving this issue...with all your help
