I have a 485w Enermax PSU, it's quite old around 7 or 8 years but was good in its day

The question is, is it good enough to power:

- i5 750 and mobo
- 2x4gb ram
- GTX 770
- ssd and a 1tb hd
- sata DVD drive

I don't have an 8 pin connector for the graphics card but I do have an adaptor to take two molex connections, to go along with the 6 pin cable

Would this be enough??

Taking it's age into account I am not sure on this one. Even when new it only had 384w on the 12v rails. Personally I wouldn't trust a psu that old and would buy a new one. Take a look at the Superflower Golden Green HX 550w. I would have said the 450w but the 550 is only a extra £6. If that's too much the cheapest I would be happy with on OCUK is the EVGA 500B 500w. It's a HEC built unit and the reviews are ok but the Superflowers are better.

Thanks pasty - the age was my worry as well... Worth trying anyway or could it cause damage?

I'll be honest I want one of the fully modular superflower psu's (I was looking at 750/850w) to future proof as well but this has to wait until next month, and I'm itching to get my 770 in and running

You could try it but it may put a lot of stress on the psu. Hopefully if it's not up to the job or fails it will just shut down and not blow. Enermax are good psu's so it should have adequate protection in the event of a failure.

I have replied to your other thread about the heatsinks by the way. :D

That's a cracking unit. Seem's like they are on offer every other week. The whole 5 year warranty is with OCUK too!!

That's good to hear, seemed to have some great reviews so had my mind set on a SuperFlower.

I was torn between the 650w unit and the 850w unit... but I opted to save £25 now and if I need more power in the future I'll upgrade then.

For the moment 650w will be plenty :D
