Just wondering why some people have their enclosed loops (H50, Antec Kuhler etc.) upside down so to speak. Does this improve cooling and are there any benefits to this?

I have mine the normal way round with the pipes down this bottom but this is what I mean.

I would have though the the pump will have to work twice as hard as it's fighting mavity. :/

i see what your saying, but if you look at the image, and then put the radiator the other way around so the pipes were at the bottom, the pipes would potentially be too long there and could kink

also now that i come to think of it, there shouldnt be any difference to the pump:

1) pipes at the top

pump pushes water to top of pipes which is hard work, but then the water falls under mavity around the radiator

2) pipes at bottom

pump does no work as pipes at same level, but then pump has to work hard to force water up through radiator

i *think* it is actually the same work for the pump, it is either one and then the other - works out the same... i *think* :p

I would have thought that if they're on the bottom like I have mine then it doesn't have to work as hard as the radiator is not filled up to the brim so the water could just go through half of the radiator or so. I'll leave mine as it is for the time being anyway. :p

Most of the time I would assume its to deal with the un-suppleness of the pipes and not being able to mod them without invalidating warranties/it being an ache.

I personally had my H50 upside down because there was slight air inside mine from the factory, So this way the air would sit in the top of the Rad and stop the pump inside the H50 getting Air pockets and making a horrid noise.

Natty.
