Quick q about vcore

just started clocking my E8400 and have been trying to find the correct voltage to set it at in the bios, its normally at 1.192 (bios hw monitor) and currently my bios setting is at 1.2625 and the bios hardware monitor is showing 1.176, is it normal to get a lower actual reading to the setting? and is this voltage ok for a 45nm chip?

Yep, that's vdroop and it's perfectly normal, my vcore is set to 1.225v in the BIOS but in Windows it's around 1.14v.

also, i am looking to update my BIOS, is there any need? i have the 0907 for the maximus formula, the 1021 is the newest one, will this make any difference to anything or should i just stay with what i have?

I have some droop on my e8400 but not that large (!)

And I'm fairly sure you can hit ~1.4V before supposed degradation of the chip becomes a problem.

Flash the bios to the latest version and see.

Flash it to the latest Rampage Formula X48 BIOS

The BIOS value is the correct value, iirc, (<- not 100% sure, though) but that drop in voltage is normal...
