Quick Q6600 Question

Not really into overclocking but I download CPU-Z and core temp to have a look if I had G0 stepping, which thankfully I do. Then noticed the core speed looks very low? I did try some overclocking many months ago but I believe I set it back to default. Here's a screen.

Switch off intel speedstep in bios

Thatll be intel speedstep c1e/eist. theese are powersaving features and are perfectly normal, put the system under a bit of load and youll soon see full speed

Yes - from what I understand these overclock quite well?

The pic wont be showing the proper vid as speedstep reduces the voltage when the system is idle, if you want to check the vid its best to disabe speedstep.
