Where is the GTA San Andreas User Files folder under Vista? in XP it was in My Documents I cannot find the folder anywhere

It should still be un my documents, maybe its in my documents / games or my games? There is a new folder in there that has some saved games in now I think.

I just happened to stumble across the same problem tonight, after having installed the game for first time on my vista machine. Looked everywhere but didnt find the folder that used to stay in "My Documents" in XP.

What is even worse though is that when I try to run the game it gives me a message saying that I should remove the current disk and insert the original one(?!?). Anyone got clues on that one? I tried to reinstal but its the same effect.

Nope mate haven’t used XP on my machine in ages


My Docs folder as you can see its nowhere in sight.




Oh! btw is there a game update for GTA to be compatible with Vista Aero?

I can’t help you on your problem I haven’t seen that error before, does the game actually load?

Did you back my documents up? coz if you re installed Vista then your My Documents folder will have gone, unless your have got it on another partition in which case you need to manually select the location of your My Documents folder.

Just type "GTA San Andreas User Files" without quote marks into the bottom of the start menu

if its not there, it means that you havn't done anything in the game yet to make it appear; as in Saving etc...

No, it doesnt. It just gives me a "retry" and "cancel" options in the message

Spoke with the customer service in regards to this whole situation. They claim its all due to Vista and that a folder should nevertheless exist. For the issue thats happened to me, I was told to reinstall the game under safe mode but that didnt work.

Pretty gutted there is almost nothing on all this when I tried to search in Google. After all SA is a fairly popular game.

Just to reiterate a comment above - have you just tried doing a search for "Andreas" ?

Vista uses a different folder structure. Look in
Local Disk > Users > Public > Public Documents.

That is where my Stalker and Fear user files went, when normally they'd be in My Documents on Windows XP.

On my vista i just click: start button (or orb or whatver its called now), Documents, GTA san andreas user files

I must be missing something here!
