Quick QS (Unsupported CPU's)

Just a quick question before I take the plunge to C2D

I currently have a MSI-945GM2 motherboard (specs below) Looking at the spec sheet it dosent seem to support C2D.

The question is: would the C2D work on this unsupported motherboard? I have latest bios flashed, if not looks like a Asus P5B Deluxe would be my choice.

They actually state No on the CPU support page I'm afraid, that is pretty conclusive:

It is true for many LGA775 boards released before C2D

Np, looks like they have a new version out with C2D support, the 945GM3:

I suppose you could try asking if they'd do you a special part exchange deal, you never know
