Quick Qu. - 2500k Silver Arrow Idle Temp.

I knew you were going to post a figure starting with a 4, maybe the thermal paste needs to cure.

Ha, why did you think that?

Ok, well shall I just leave it for today and then check it tomorrow?

And with the paste, I put a tiny blob in the centre of the CPU bit. Is that the best way?

Yeah give it a bit, the temp should drop a further 2-3.

I knew you were going to post a figure like that and I would have said its not mounted correctly, but your so close to be in the 30's it could just be the paste.

The 41 temp. was what it said in the BIOS as soon as I started it up. But, in Asus AI Suite it is saying 36 degrees. :S

Which one is right? I'm guessing the BIOS, but does it run hotter in the BIOS ?

So your 41 figure could just be either the system(chipset) temp or some completely random made up value pulled out of the air by the bios.

Well the BIOS has been a bugger to me before so I'll go with it's the BIOS' fault :)

What about the fact that the 4th core is 5/6 degrees hotter than the 1st constantly? Is that a problem?

I think I may know why, one of the fans is spinning much slower than the other.

Do I control the fan speed in the BIOS?

And, what should I set it to, bearing in mind I don't care about the noise in the slightest as I wear headphones, so just want the best performance?

See my answer in your other thread on this subject.
