Quick query about VOIP

I have recently been able to finally order FTTP so as a result I need to move my landline number to a VOIP provider. What I would like to know is if there is any difference in call quality between using my current handsets with an ata or a phone that supports voip in terms of call quality.

A VoIP phone generally has a higher quality mic/speaker, a speakerphone that is worth using, and you won't have to deal with echo suppression, caller ID, DTMF, line voltage settings. But it all gets degraded to telephone line quality as soon as you call cross-network anyway.

An ATA is good if you want to hook it into existing phone cabling or have a particular handset you want to use, otherwise if I definitely wanted a handset and not an app on my iPhone I'd buy something like the Grandstream WP822, or a Gigaset DECT setup if I wanted multiple handsets.
