I'm looking at a possible upgrade in the next couple of weeks, and will need a new case, but I'm not sure about a PSU.

Will an Antec 550 run an I7 2600k (I'm aiming at that, possibly Ib if that comes out and isn't too much more), a 5770, 4 HDD's and the normal gubbins? (Mobo, ram etc).

I'm trying to decide on getting a new PSU or an SSD :) (if it will run fine, I'll replace the PSU in a couple of months)
I know the PSU works fine with a 5770, 4 drives and my current Q6600, but i'm not sure if it will be ok with an I7 or similar :)

Your psu will be fine, I tested my system with a plug in meter and got around 430w with a overclocked i7 2700k and 580 gpu :)

Get a SSD :p

Cheers :)

If I do go for this upgrade it'll be my first big one in about 3 years, and more costly than my normal ones :) (as I'm basically having to replace not just the normal motherboard/cpu/ram in one go, but also the case).

The power usage of a Sandy Bridge i7 is actually slightly lower than a Q6600 (and quite a bit lower with IB) so if the PSU works fine with your current rig then it will certainly work with your upgrade.

As for an SSD, even at full usage a modern SSD only draws 4-5 watts, so in case you were wondering adding an SSD (or ten) to your current rig doesn't mean you need a new PSU. Also, a 7200rpm hard drive uses a maximum of ~10W.
