Quick question - 8800GTX power connectors

The 8800GTX needs 4 connectors from your PSU?? Each 6-pin connector that goes into the card has 2 connectors for the PSU ones, so 4 in total! Seems an awful lot! Just checking incase you only use 2 of them... I didn't want anything to blow up!

Thing is, I have 2 PCI-E cables that came with my PSU (Corsair 620W) and they would go straight from the PSU into the 2 slots on the 8800GTX. Would that be ok, or do I have to use the 4 standard PSU connectors on the supplied cables that came with the card?

No use the PCI-E power connectors from the PSU then 4 molexes into the 2 adaptors for the remaining two PCI-E sockets.

Sorry, bit confused. I have 2 PCI-E cables that came with the PSU - if I use them they go straight from PSU into the 2 PCI-E ports on the GTX. Is that what you're saying, becuase if so, this connects everything and leaves no need for the 4-pin molexes.

Its not SLi? So use the two 6 pin PCIe direct from the PSU. The adapters are if you don't have PCIe connectors or you've run out. As in SLi GTX needing 4 PCIe.

In reality its not the number of molex, that type of plug handles far more current than that, 18AWG/8A per molex. Its the number of conductors. For the GTX, the main thing is to get two separete feeds from the PSU to spread the load. In other words, 4 molex all on the same PSU feed = 1 conductor = not good.
