quick question about AC2 drm

I'm playing through Brotherhood atm and it is brilliant!!

I was thinking of getting AC2 on, maybe from Steam, but i'm put off by the people saying that you need internet access to play it at all times, but lots of these commnets are quire old.
Is this still the case? i would have thought that, after the backlash, they might have changed it in some way?
Can you not play it in offline mode like Brotherhood at all?

Buy the retail version its under £10 now if you look around. No need for the DVD either after install once you have registered the game put the disc in a safe place incase you need to install again in future.

I tried mine the other day & it still needs an online connection but its not a big deal as their servers are reliable nowadays & also auto sync your save games to their cloud so it keeps your saves & config for you incase you use it on more than 1 PC/laptop (there is no limit as its registered to your Uplay account so only that account can ever play it once registered)!
