I'm about to order one but i was wondering if it comes with thermal paste all ready applied or do i need to buy some?

Thanks

yeh. you'll probably find yourself tempted to reseat your processor just so you can see the temperatures a little lower (needlessly of course) if you're overclocking. I did. Ended up ordering some arctic silver along with some case tidying stuff and a rounded ide cable later on.

true... AS5 has been a couple of degrees lower for me but I did have to lift the MX1 off twice before i managed to get the cooler on the right way round.

But the Scythe and Tunic are about twice the price. Suppose you get what you pay for, but the Arctic 7 Pro is pretty damn good for the price, i'll be getting one when I order tonnight :)

Dont expect a quiet cooler if you get the freezer pro mind. When its running full rpm its damn loud. Its ok on optimal setting, but doesnt cool my e6600 very well with a 3ghz overclock, i get about 50c on both cores idle.

Anyhow i bought a tunic tower 120 to replace it.

And what do you get on both cores at idle now ? ? ?

I wont be fitting the tt until next saturday, or shortly after anyway. Its a birthday pressie. :p

Dont get me wrong the freezer pro is a great little cooler, and a very good price. I just need something with a bit more umph.

Tuniq Tower is only £35??? TBH I just want the best peformance versus sound. As i am building a studio/games machine.

Im sticking it in an antec sonata II and i'm going to deck it out massively with sound insulation.

Any suggestions?

Ok I've now got my freezer pro (with thermal paste ;) ) and before I fit it, what do you think is a safe operating temperature?

I'm up to 2.7Ghz with stock HSF with temps around 50-55 under load. Would love to reach 3Ghz with the freezer pro.

Is this realistic?

You will reach 3ghz easy! im at just under 3.3ghz at my temps never go over 56C. I changed the case fans in my super lanboy and my temps dropped 4C :p so i upped my front side bus from 450 to 470 and all is stable :D

Good luck.

Im on 3ghz with my freezer pro. It was easy as pie on my P5W - DH, didnt need to increase volts or anything.

Im running the freezer pro on optimal and its nice and quite on this setting. :)
