Quick question about bank roll numbers

I'm just filling in my bank details for my placement down Oxford. I'm banking with The Royal Bank Of Scotland (RBS).

Now it has a section that states "Building Society Accounts Roll Number". Now from my understanding for banks it's just Account number and Sort Code isn't it?

Or am I completely missing the point?

Are you asking for a transfer i.e. are you asking for your *(local branc* to be transferred? if that makes anysense?

Date of birth, signature, national insurance number, passport number and the three digit number from the back of your credit card....That will do nicely.

bulding societies use roll numbers to identify all of the details. Banks use account numbers and sort codes. If you want your pay to go into an isa in a bulding society, Bradford and Bingley for example, you would have a roll number for that account.
