Hey I have Cooler Master CM 690 II Advanced USB 3.0.

Can someone tell me if it is ok to plug a drive into the top whilst the system is powered up or do I have to power it down first?

Just got an SSD back from RMA and need to put the OS mirror on it, was hoping to do it via the drive "bay" on the top of the case.

Thanks.

If its similar to the hot swap bay on the Ghost, I've never had issues with plugging the drive in while its on but it does not recognise the drive unless I reboot.

then seems pointless if you have to reboot to see it, as it's not a hot swap then :)

i have some hotswap caddies, as i have 19X 1tb hard drive, don't ask (soon to have same amount of 2tb models, ex work etc)

don't need to do anything other than put them in for them to work

You don't need to power off the computer, SATA is hot-swap capable. To have the disk recognized without reboot, you have to make sure that the SATA controller is set to AHCI in your BIOS.
