Quick question about fans....?

Sorry I'm a noob, if i hook up a fan will it run full power all the time or only when it needs to?

i.e. do fans have internal regulators or is a controller neccessary?

depends on how they are connected

if connected to

the motherboard, they will run according to the fan profile(s) in the bios

to the power supply, 100% all the time

to a fan controller, dependent upon what voltage you give the fans usually between 5V to 12V
