Hello there,

I was just wondering, is higher FSB always better when OC'n a CPU, for example:

My current CPU is an 3700+ @ 260x10.

If i lower the FSB and then put the CPU multi higher, thus increasing my overall speed higher than 2.6ghz (maybe) Would that be faster than just having the FSB at just 260. My computer is mainly gaming based, if that makes a difference.

In A64 Chips as you have, the speed of the CPU is more important than FSB or Mem timings. Athlons loved high FSB so people sacrificed the Multiplyer in order to hit as high an FSB as possible. Other chipps like very tight mem timings so FSB is sacrificed. Your Cpu loves high CPU speed so put that as your main effort

It entirely depends on your individual CPU. Sometimes a particular clock speed is unstable at a high FSB and low CPU multi but completely stable at a low FSB and high CPU multi - and vice versa.

My PC wouldn't so much as boot at 2.6GHz with the multi at 11x. So, I increased the FSB and dropped the multi to something like 9x and here I am months down the line with a rock solid overclock.

You can also use the multi to obtain the sweet spot for you memory. I like my memory to be in the 200-230 region for nice tight timings. With the multi and dividers I can usually achieve this at the expense of a few Mhz.
