Hi people.

I've Just opened my copy of batman and slapped it in got to install sat back and though id take a look at the manual. Having not actually looked at a manual for a game for god knows how long lol. I noticed they still have the "notes" section in the back.

My question is.

Have you ever used this section for notes? Or bought a 2nd hand game with notes in the manual?

Pointless question I know but I'm bored :p

I used to write reminders for things in the back and at one stage even wrote a little mini walk through for a section of the game I was playing. I was quite young at the time...

Nope, I like to keep everything associated with my games in tip-top pristeen condition. The manual is never read, I search out an online PDF version. Maps are never opened. Why? I have no idea.

The reason they're there is because the pages have to be multiples of 4 Iirc, I don't think any developer expects them to be used for anything :p

I remember when i was little i bought a game second hand for my NES, too long ago to remember the name but it was a jet fighter game. I was stuck on a level and being young i assumed that was clearly because the game was broken or that there was a command for 'make them die now' that i didn't know of that must be written down in the manual. Upon inspecting it i found that the previous owner had put all the cheat codes in the notes section, this was way before the days of the internet so cheat codes were like gold, that was a good day.

I use that space to write about how awesome I am at the game...

When I bought Earthworm Jim 2 second hand on the Megadrive, I'm pretty sure cheats were written in the notes section.

Back in the day that would be the best use for them, rather than hunting for the magazine that had the code in it.

I bought a second hand copy of Red Alert 2 and in the notes section were a load of cheats and best times of completed levels. I don't tend to buy second hand games anymore, the manuals tend to smell a little... funky. :o

up down left right a b start, wrote that in my sonic one.
Thought it was just up down left right a start weren't it?

Never used the pages myself, do remember some old school 2nd hand snes/megadrive games having notes all over, was too young to understand though I think.
