So i recently just ordered my new rig:
Phenom II X2 550
Asus 790FX Motherboard
Sapphire 4890
Corsair 650W PSU
4GB Corsair DDR3 RAM

Basically my question is... My old monitor is broke and i really wanted to know if i could use my HDTV as the monitor. It's quite old now (Got it late 07) It's a Philips 32". It supports 720p and 1080i (1366x768p). I'm quite new to this so would i have any problems with using the TV as a monitor when playing the newest games? (considering the GPU and such?). Many thanks in advance :)

yes but you need a converter your card will come with one I have sapphire onces as well

Ok, thanks guys. I just wanted to make sure before i blew more money on a
monitor.
One final question: What kind of cable would i need to connect it to a HDTV. Considering my TV has two HDMI ports would i have to get a VGA to HDMI lead (if it exists)?
What the others have said.

PS: Nice rig.
Thanks :P

yes may I ask is that cpu a dual core o.O

you will need to get a HDMI cable if you haven't got one already

i throught you would have gone for X4, but the new version of the X2 are awsome little things as well.
