Hi guys just a quick question.

My car i am looking to scrap, shes abit old and out of MOT on Friday. I still have the brother in laws private reg on and i am looking to take the reg off and return it to him.

Is it as simple as filling out sections 2 & 3 and transfering it straight onto his car for the cheaper price? Also will i have to provide but sets of insurance, tax and V5c documents or just for the new car (his).

Thanks

You can pay the smaller fee and move it straight to another car or pay the higher fee and stick it on a certificate, then transfer to a vehicle at a later date.

Thanks divine for the reply.

I will be going down the cheapest route with the straight transfer. Just to make sure i understand i send both his and my insurance docs, V5C through the post?

Not sure but I would assume so as both the V5C's would need changing for the change of reg. I have just sent mine off to put it on retention. I had to include the MOT cert as well.

Im taking mine off because the car will be scrapped and the MOT runs out in a few days. Hope the MOT cert doesn't have to be valid.

Argh, this is the problem. I will be scrapping it so i won't be MOT'ing again because it will fail on numerous things. Must be a way around this? All i want is the reg plate lol.

Edit: Just rang and i'm told as long as its been expired within 12 months i'm fine.
