quick question about upgrading to vista 64bit

I currently use windows vista home premium 32 bit, im planning a big upgrade around september time, and will be getting 4gb of ram and such so will need 64bit, if i buy 64bit oem, will it let me just upgrade my current one and keep all my stuff? Or will it need a fresh install?

IIRC you can't upgrade 32bit to 64bit. The kernel is different.

im going to be buying more ram in a few months (im not getting 64bit vista just yet) since 32bit dosent support 4gb.
